Sleep Well & Rest

A Buddhist philosopher once stated that "a bed can be too comfortable" we are not sure about that!

We want to make sure you have a good night's sleep and provide great mattresses and duvets to ensure that's exactly what you get.

Comfortable accommodation is in one, two and three person rooms.

Stay With Us

In true Buddhist tradition we welcome all comers to our Retreat. We would like to offer those that might be either curious or like many others, trying very hard to live by the Dharma but struggle to meet their own expectations the opportunity improve their practice without being over whelmed by established practitioners and strict regimes. We also welcome those who are established in their practice, and invite those that would be generous, to offer their guidance.
Through our own experiences and having worked with and met others engaged in Buddhist values we realise that funds are often limited and many Retreats are out of the financial reach of those that would often most benefit.

~ Our goal is to offer an affordable Retreat where newcomers or established practitioners can relax and develop a fresh community spirit together ~

Time at the retreat is...

This is 'Your time' and to this end you are not bound by time or convention. You are encouraged to come and go as you please source, prepare, cook and eat meals at your leisure.

Trips to local produce suppliers are regular and you are invited to visit weekly markets and the surrounding villages where you can buy locally grown vegetables, homemade jams, honey, cheese and much, much more.
Limousin, the heart of rural France is most famous for its beautiful lakes and countryside there are many walks for you to discover that could take you out for just a few hours or all day.
The amazing Lac De Vassiviere is only 10km away and we would be happy to drop you off and pick you up at the end of a wonderful day discovering its beautiful beaches where you can swim, wander through its vast forests or trek over hills.

Our community

Our aim is to build a community spirit here at Sangha Retreat France, where visitors engage with the project and return regularly to enjoy a ‘home from home’ experience.
We hope that once guests have stayed with us they will feel part of the Sangha and be looking forward to their next visit bringing new friends and fresh ideas to the community.

We are happy to accommodate all visitors whether it is a one off visit or regular, planned stays as part of your annual routine.

Lac de Vassivière, only 5 minutes away it is surrounded by more than 19,000 acres of land of ecological or natural interest. This huge area presents the full range of typical landscapes; characteristic peat bog, wetland, heath and forest. It is the sources of many of the streams and rivers that flow from the region.

Our Beautiful Countryside

Why are there so many castles in Limousin ?
Simply because it was a coveted region, caught between the dukes of Aquitaine and the kings of France. Most of these castles were built in the 11th century, then modified and remodeled. Come and explore this exciting area.

The climate is heavily influenced by the elevated, inland location. Winters are cold with snowfalls heavy enough for some winter sports. Spring is generally cool and wet, and summer is warm and pleasant, albeit with occasional fierce thunderstorms.
Autumn ofter brings a period of considerable sun and warmth.

We are working to improve our Website -

Peace of mind - "the absence of mental stress or anxiety"

All living beings have the same basic wish to be happy and avoid suffering, but very few people understand the real causes of happiness and suffering.

We generally believe that external conditions e.g. material posessions and money are the real causes of happiness, and as a result we devote time and energy to acquiring these.

Superficially it seems that these things can make us happy, but if we look more deeply we shall see that they also bring us suffering and problems.
